The Sign

Sign of the Fig Tree

Matthew 24:32-35

“Now learn a lesson from the Fig Tree.”

We can look at a fig tree and know by its sprouting buds and leaves the season of summer is near.  In the same way when we witness the signs given of Christ’s return, we know His is right at the door. The generation that sees these signs will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but God’s Word will remain.

The Lord uses different analogies to illustrate what He wants to convey.  When He spoke of believers abiding in His Love and His Word He pointed to the Vine, the branches and the fruit. In different passages I recall the analogy of a woman about to give birth.  So Jesus teaches to be on the alert to these signs, knowing when they occur, the time of His Coming is Ripe, He is right at the door of the Event.
In both of these analogies there is a steady progression , whereby, once the signs of the budding of fruit and birth begin, there is no stopping it. These signs will occur in strategic places and also throughout the world.

I believe we are seeing these signs today, and the stage is set for the Event of Christ’s return. The Lord is calling His Bride- the Church to be in position in prayer, just as He drew His disciples to Himself, waking them up  before His arrest, He is awakening His Church to be steadfast and prepared, while everything appears contrary and does not make sense,

His Word remains, His Word is Truth. Let us Abide in His Word where we are kept secure in His Love;  unafraid.

Lord, awaken us, your slumbering church, and remind us to abide in your Word and Your Love.  We know, Apart from You, we are ignorant of the Truth.
