Matthew 24: 30-31
“Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
Matthew 24:30-31
Scripture Summary
When the Son of Man returns there will be a sign appearing in the heavens, and there will be great mourning among people on the earth. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with great power and great glory. And He will send out His Angels with the blast of a trumpet and will gather His chosen Ones from all over the world from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
Reflection
When Jesus returns for all the world to see, those who are in unbelief will mourn to see Him because they will know they rejected His salvation.
There are two distinct trumpet sounds occurring at the end of the age. The first will be the Lord’s trumpet call to gather those who are redeemed- His Church. Only they will hear His voice and come up from the graves, and those who are living from their place. There they will meet Him in the Air to be with Him forever. With the sound of this trumpet blast there will be great joy. The last Trumpet blast will take place when Jesus comes back to judge the world and there will be weeping and crying at the sound of that blast.
During the rapture of the church- the Bride of Christ, Christ Himself will call up those who are redeemed through His Grace. At the last blast, or final trumpet those who have repented during the tribulation period will hear the trumpet call of redemption and Jesus will send His angels to gather them from everywhere on the face of the earth.
Jesus redeems everyone who comes to faith in His salvation, first through His Grace and then through His Wrath. The Word says, “The first will be last and the last will be first.”
(Matthew 20:16, Romans 11:25)
God’s mercy is so great that His Grace is to save everyone who repents. When He sends His angels to gather His chosen Ones from all over the world, we know the gospel was preached throughout the world.
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
Matthew 24:14

Note: The first Trumpet Blast symbolizes Joy and Contentment. Before the Last Trumpet Blast there is mourning, weeping, trepidation, and sorrow. Then what follows is the final Trumpet Blast symbolizing “Redemption”.
