Context: Matthew 24
Focus: Matthew 24: 23-25
S- If anyone claims to be the Messiah don’t believe it for false prophets and Messiahs will rise up and even perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen. But Jesus warns those who belong to Him, ahead of time.
R – Jesus promised His disciples the Holy Spirit and to all who believe, Whom He said would take from Him and reveal it to those in faith.
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13
Therefore, it is impossible for those who have the Holy Spirit to be deceived as to what others may say and do. No matter what sign is given, those in faith can detect the counterfeit of the devil.
The Truth is, God’s Word and the Holy Spirit agree. Those who come to faith in Jesus Christ have His Spirit dwelling within them which is the sign of their redemption. John the Baptist, saw the dove – Holy Spirit descending upon Jesus , and knew He was the One promised – “Behold, The Lamb of God Who takes away the Sin of the World.” Jesus promised one sign would point to Him as the Messiah Whom God sent – He would be raised from the dead after three days. After offering Himself as the Holy living Sacrifice, dying on the cross for all sin, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead and appeared to His disciples and many.
P- Lord, thank you for giving us your Holy Spirit and your Word which agree – Jesus Christ is the One Who has come and there is no other. Let the eyes of the blind see, and be set free.
CR – John 16:13, Luke 3:22, John 1:29-31, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8
“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” 1 John 2:27
