“His Abide”
Scripture Context: Matthew 7: 7-11
Reflection: I have a tendency to be passive. I mean when it comes to receiving all that I want and need from the Lord. I am also this way when I know to say something important during a discussion, feeling I won’t really be heard. I have suffered much from this deficiency, but in reading today’s scripture I was struck with the revelation that God wants us to pursue His provisions instead of passively saying a quick prayer and going on. When I read about Hannah’s passion for a child and Jabez’s prayer to receive blessings so He could do good and not harm, I see these were prayers of earnestness, that the Lord could not ignore. So the earnest, persistent prayer of one in Christ will avail much, unless it doesn’t line up with His Word. (James 4:3, 1 Samuel 1:9-4:11, 1 Chronicles 4:10, James 5: 16-18)
Therefore we can go to our heavenly Father with confidence, knowing He is good, and it is His will to give us good things, for if He did not withhold His Son, His One and only precious Son for our salvation, will He not give us what we want and need? (Romans 8:32)
My Prayer: Lord, thank you that it is your will to give your children what they ask, so you can bestow your blessings upon us to reveal your love and strengthen our faith.
Application: Yesterday, I had problems with this computer that I could not fix and so my writing was on hold. But I prayed, and the Holy Spirit gave me the wisdom I needed to see how to fix one problem and then I was blessed by seeing how to fix the next.
