Descendants
Day 24 Luke 1: 46-55
“He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”
Luke 1:54-55
Mary recognized God’s faithfulness to keep His Promise to Abraham and His descendants. These are his offspring, born again by faith through the seed of the gospel. Mary believed the message of salvation and received the seed of faith which brought about the birth of God’s Son. Now all who believe in the gospel message of Jesus Christ become born again, and nothing can corrupt that seed once it produces the fruit of faith.
“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1: 13-14
Dear Heavenly Father,
Lord, you have kept your promises and covenant and preserved a remnant from Israel who receive your seed of Faith. Thank you for your faithfulness to sow into all lives the gospel message, imperishable, divine seed that brings regeneration to those who believe.
Key Word: Descendants – Strong’s 4690: From speiro; something sown, i.e. Seed; by implication, offspring; specially, a remnant.
“Paul can still call himself part of “the seed of Abraham” (2 Corinthians 11:22) and affirms in Romans 11:1 that God has not rejected “the seed of Abraham” despite widespread unbelief. Isaiah’s remnant theology is cited: “If the Lord of Hosts had not left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom” (Romans 9:29). Hence ethnic Israel retains covenant significance while salvation remains by grace through faith.
