Day 21 Matthew 1: 18-25
““The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will
call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). NIV” Matthew 1:23
Isaiah prophesized that God would send forth His Son to be born of a virgin and He would dwell with us. He would live among us and then be with all believers wherever they go. From the time of Christ’s birth, Jesus walked among us showing us the Father. It was His reason for coming into the world. With His teachings and acts of compassion, He demonstrated the heart of God our Father, for it was Jesus who said,
“I only do what I see the Father doing.”
Anyone who believes the God of the old testament and the God who came in the flesh, are not the same, have missed it all.
God sent His only begotten Son to the cross for our sakes. It was God manifesting Himself in human form, who was willing to live among us to show us the way. But, it would require the sacrifice of His Son to reconcile us to Himself.
He is our refuge and our strength and always present to help us throughout our lives. (Psalm 46: 1-3). From the time of Christ’s birth and resurrection He dwelt among His disciples. After His resurrection He revealed Himself again for 40 days to at least 500. And following His Ascension into Heaven He sent the Holy Spirit to remain with all who believe. So God is with us and in us and remains with us for all eternity
( that is all who believe ) – (Romans 10: 8-13)
Key Word: Strong’s 1694: Of Hebrew origin; God with us; Emmanuel, a name of Christ.
“Matthew cites Isaiah’s prophecy when narrating the virgin conception of Jesus: “Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (Matthew 1:23). By applying the title to Jesus, Matthew presents Him as the long-awaited Messiah in whom God definitively dwells with humanity. The singular New Testament occurrence underscores the unique and climactic fulfillment in the person of Christ.”
