Day 16
John 7: 25-43
“Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” John 7:42
On the day of Christ’s resurrection two disciples who had left Jerusalem were on their way to Emmaus, when Jesus suddenly joined them, unrecognized. They had believed Jesus would restore Israel at that time, but His crucifixion left them disillusioned, disappointed and totally confused. As they were discussing the events of His death, Jesus began to point out in scripture everything written about Him. He guided them to the Truth by examining the Word of God. (Luke 24:13-32)
Instead of relying on what others may say about Jesus, it is imperative we examine what God has given us through scripture. We cannot approach scripture with our biases or prejudices (eisegesis), but rather, allow the Word of God to speak for itself (exegesis). The reason the religious leaders missed identifying Jesus as the Messiah was because He did not fit into their portrayal of what they wanted Him to be. Had they with sincerity wanted to know the Truth they would have inquired further concerning Jesus and discovered His birth place and Isaiah 53. All scripture confirms and validates itself from Genesis to Revelation, (2 Timothy 2: 14-16)
God holds us accountable in knowing and interpreting His Word by prayer and meditation. All we need to do is to dig a little deeper. When we need to be guided, there is only one Truth – And God has made it available to us, like manna covering the earth.
All that is needed is the honest desire to Know the Truth, and we will discover Who God is and the One Whom He has sent – Jesus Christ.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
Lord, thank you for making your Word plentiful and accessible for us in these last days. You have also given us your Holy Spirit to discern its interpretation.
We are equipped in every way to handle the Truth with reverence and understanding.
(1 John 2:27)
