Day 11
Luke 2: 1-20
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” NIV Luke 2: 11
“While Shepherds were guarding their flocks at night near the place of Jesus’ birth, an Angel of the Lord appeared to them radiant with the Lord’s glory. They were startled at the sight, but the angel told them not to be afraid, for he had come to tell them the good news that “today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.”
The least among the Jewish people were the first to hear the news of Jesus’ birth. The Angel of the Lord identified Jesus and Who He was, when He was born and the place. All that the angel reported was prophesized. Perhaps, because of the shepherds lowly position, they had anticipated a Savior more than most. With excitement and joy they also were the first to proclaim that the Messiah had come, a Savior bringing salvation and Peace to all who believed.
When you have the knowledge and also believe in your heart, you will also proclaim the good news. You cannot keep it to yourself. (Romans 10: 8-9)
Lord, I remember when I first heard the news about my Savior Jesus Christ. My heart was filled with an overwhelming joy that could not be contained. When I told someone else, they too received the Peace and Joy that comes with believing and confessing this Truth. Thank you for sending your Son to rescue us from ourselves, forgiving our sins and giving us eternal life.
