Day 6
Context: Matthew 1: 1-25
“ This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:18
The prophesy of a virgin giving birth to the Messiah was fulfilled through Mary who believed. She became pregnant through the conception brought about by the Holy Spirit. She was engaged to Joseph at the time of this miraculous event. When he learned of her pregnancy, he was dismayed, contemplating how to break the engagement, quietly, for her sake. But an angel appeared in his dream explaining how her conception was through the Holy Spirit, and she would give birth to a Son, and name Him Jesus. He would save people from their sins.
God’s ways are not our ways and with the circumstance of His Son’s birth, came scrutiny concerning Joseph and Mary’s relationship and reputation. Yet they chose to obey and were chosen for the most important miracle to take place. This choice, did not come without cost. Whenever God brings about the revelation of Himself, to fulfill His purpose, it comes with someone making the decision to lose their life to save someone else. The result is “God revealed” and the blessings of obedience keep multiplying into eternal life.
Lord, thank you, your ways are the way of love. Not love of self, but love for the sake of someone else. I pray, I will choose obedience, no matter what it costs me. for it cost you everything, your precious life. And when we believe, we also experience a supernatural birth, brought about by the indwelling of your promised Holy Spirit. (John 3: 3)
