Day 2
Context: Isaiah 7: 1-16
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Isaiah 7: 14 ESV
When King Ahaz of Judah was threatened with invasion from Israel and Syria, he became very afraid. But Isaiah the prophet told him not to fear for they would be no more. He told the King to ask for a sign, but he refused. So Isaiah said God, Himself, would give him a sign of His covenant and faithfulness by promising through a virgin a son would be born and He would be called Immanuel – ” God with us”.
God’s faithfulness to keep His promise of salvation through the line of Judah was not dependent on anyone or anything but Himself. His covenant with His people was that a Savior would come forth and His presence would be with us through His Son, Jesus Christ, through the miraculous sign of a Virgin Birth .
Lord, forgive me for doubting you for even a moment. Your Word is truth and what you have predestined for all who believe for salvation has taken place, and through the gift of your Holy Spirit , your presence remains and you are indeed, “With Us” now and forevermore.
