“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” Galatians 4:4-5
Greek Words for Time
Chronos – Time, a particular time, season
Kairos Fitting season, season, opportunity, occasion, time.
Aion – Eternity
In the very beginning God created the sun, stars and the moon to detect the days and seasons. There should be no confusion what constitutes a day in our chronological calendar. In six days God created the heavens and the earth and He clearly defined it as “and the evening and the morning was the first day”. (Genesis 1:5)
For thousands of years mankind has used these created lights to help navigate their way into the world and upon the seas and to determine by seasons when it is best to sow and reap.
This reminds me to how God had predetermined the set time (Chronos) for a baby to develop and reach maturation in the womb. All the organs and systems are present in three months of gestation. Now all these organs and systems need to do is to mature enough to live outside of the mother’s womb. (Psalm 139: 13-18)
This also reminds me of how Jesus spoke to Nicodemus and told Him in order to enter or live in the kingdom of God a person must be born again (John 3:8). Just as God breathed into Adam a created being. (Genesis 2:7) He breathes into us His Spirit to revive us back to eternal life.(John 20:22). The moment this spiritual life has begun, everything is in place, and the believer begins the transformation in Christ, and the work He begins in us He also completes. (Philippians 1:6)
The moment we come to faith (Kairos) in Jesus Christ, God transcends all time and in His timing, in that exact moment we become His sons and daughters and grow up into eternal life (Aion).
