Context: Ephesians 1: 1-23
Focus: Ephesians 1: 13-14
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”
(My Emphasis) Ephesians 1: 13-14
God’s purpose was that Jews and Gentiles alike receive the inheritance of His blessings and eternal life by believing in His Son, Jesus Christ. As soon as the person responds to the Holy Spirit by hearing the gospel and believes, God’s Holy Spirit takes residence in the believer’s heart. Jesus did not give any other criteria for being saved- but to believe. And if a person believes the believer’s confession of faith will follow. ( Romans 10: 8-10)
Sometimes circumstances, failures and sin make us second guess whether or not we are truly saved. But if we have the Holy Spirit, then we are sealed for redemption and are promised eternal life. The presence of the Holy Spirit working in our life is the evidence of our salvation and that salvation is sealed. It’s God’s proclamation for eternal life.
(John 3:16) And there is no, ands, ifs, buts about God’s Word.
The more we yield in obedience to the promptings of the Holy Spirit- “His small still voice” in accordance with the Word of God, the more the Holy Spirit is revealed in our life. It is only by the Holy Spirit we come to repentance, and it is by the Holy Spirit we believe.
And if you believe, the Holy Spirit will show up in your life with conviction, guidance, comfort, and the power to witness the gospel truth. The more we yield to the Holy Spirit the more the Holy Spirit becomes a part of our everyday life. He will even open up the scriptures to reveal Jesus Christ if we approach the Word hungry and thirsty for Him.

Lord, thank you for your Holy Spirit Who convicted me of sin, who revealed to me the truth about your salvation as I responded in repentance to the gospel truth. And thank you He continues to comfort and guide me in my walk in Christ. Thank you also, Lord, the gift you have given through your Holy Spirit is sealed permanently to my heart as I am sealed permanently to yours. In Jesus Name, Amen!
