James 1:22-24 Hebrews 4:12
I discover the more I seek God and get to know Him, I know myself. When I read His Word, in essence I am reading Him. The closer I draw near to Him, the closer He draws near to me and I can hear what He has to say.
Looking intently into the Word I see God’s glory and His nature. I can also see my own and here is where the true reflection takes place. God reveals Himself and I see myself next to His Image. His image is flawless, while mine is marred and distorted. Sometimes if I am not careful, I might try to mask myself and hide the blemishes. But God will not allow it. His Word is brutal honesty which at first yields a pang, but later is a healing balm filling every mark and crevice. His unconditional love yields the fruit of beauty that is growing patiently in my heart.
And one day I will see Him as He is as He opens my eyes to see His loving kindness, mercy, forgiveness and the One Whom He Sent – the perfect representation of His Glory- Jesus Christ.
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12
