Walking on Faith

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
Matthew 14:28

As I read about Peter reaching out to Jesus in the midst of a storm, it reminded me of how there are times when I want to join Jesus where He is but afraid.

Sometimes as I am going forward I almost make it, but then overthink. What if this or that? What will I say and do? Is Jesus really in this, and is He inviting me, too?

So, I’ve learned to pray concerning everything before I move.
Is this scriptural, you may ask? I’ll ask you?

“The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 6-7

Just recently, I’ve been advancing into what I call unfamiliar territory.  When I arrive at my destination, I know the Lord is there. So abandoning all preconceived ideas  I wait to discern His next move. I just let go of all my inhibitions, second guessing, and  embrace the present moment. Usually, I have a plan; a long thought-out agenda as a safety net. I don’t like leaving my comfort zone without any guarantees, or a security line, in case I am just left hanging there. However, that is exactly what Jesus told His disciples to do when He sent them out with no change of clothing, no money in their purse and no reservations  for lodging.  (Matthew 10:9-11)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding:
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

We long to be where the Master is calling, but in the process, we find ourselves looking anxiously about us and sometime slip back in the boat. Jesus makes no promises other than He will be with us to the ends of the Earth. No matter how safe it appears, it isn’t, unless Jesus is there.

Whenever I am asked to leave my comfort zone and join Him where I don’t want to be, He  not only is with me, for me, He can work through me.

I am forming the habit to pray about everything, trust Him for the outcome,  and to presume and assume nothing other than what His Word tells me.

I WAIT for His signal to move, or be still.  What a rest to do things His Way, according to His Will.

“Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.” Isaiah 64:4

About Doula Faith

I am first and foremost a child of God, "born again" into the Kingdom of God through faith in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has called me to be an "Encourager" of faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. I have learned through some painful trials of His unconditional love. The apple of my eye, is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Living Word.
