It is Written

Truth and Deception

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

I found it interesting how Jesus did not refer to anything else but scripture –
( What is Written) when tempted by the devil. The tempter wanted Jesus to prove Himself by turning stones into bread, which Jesus only replied with what was written down in scripture, during the time of Moses. (Deuteronomy 8:3)

The devil will tempt a believer to try and make bread (God’s Word) out of things not written down in scripture. The only way to know if something is God’s Truth, the true bread from heaven,  is to refer to scripture, not the words of false prophets, dreams, numbers or visions. These stones are appearing to persuade the believer to ignore what Jesus has said.

The Word of God is the only “Authority” because God is the “Author”.

When we go outside of scripture to prove what we want to believe, the devil will provide us with stones (numbers, dreams, visions, false prophets, anything). He will twist scripture into something that appears to be truth, even relating it to another scripture out of context.
That is why it is so important to interpret scripture exegetically –
( Scripture speaking for Itself) , instead of inferring our own opinions (exegesis).

Description of the Exegesis Approach: What is the Difference between Exegesis and Eisegesis?

If you take scripture out of its context or dismiss the Author’s intent, then you do not have a true interpretation. Paul admonished Timothy to study God’s Word accurately and receive God’s approval.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth”. 2 Timothy 2:15

Today, some are believing in the stones the tempter has laid, which is in opposition to what Jesus has said, and what is written precisely in scripture.

As to those who are looking for the rapture on a given date, Jesus was not playing games, when He told His disciples to not be occupied with when He would appear, but rather always be ready. IT IS WRITTEN:

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,  but only the Father.  Matthew 24:36

So, if Jesus said He didn’t know, do we?
