Our Genealogy in Christ Jesus

Context: Luke 3: 1-38

Focus: “Adam was the son of God”
Luke 3:38

Summary: In Luke’s account of Jesus, birth and genealogy, he begins with Joseph, known as Jesus’ earthly father, He then describes Jesus’ descendants all the way back to the first man- Adam, who he refers to as the son of God.
( 1 Corinthians 15: 45)

Reflection: Adam was not born of woman but created by the hand of God. So his genealogy starts with  God forming him not in the womb, but from the dust of the ground, breathing life into his nostrils he became a living soul.  Jesus left heaven and was born of a woman. So, His identity is with God the Father and not the seed of man.
(Genesis 2:7,  Psalm 139:13).

In Matthew’s account of Christ’s genealogy he points to Abraham as the beginning of His identity.  But Jesus did not come to redeem just the Jews but all mankind.
( John 3:16)
It is those who have been “born again” not in the flesh but in the spirit who are the offspring of God’s Only Son, Jesus Christ.
As believers, our genealogy begins the moment we allow Christ into out life, by receiving forgiveness by His death on the cross, believing in His resurrection, confessing Him Lord, we become “born again”.
(John 3: 1-21, Galatians 3:26-29, Acts 17:29, Romans 10:9-13)

The true sons of God come into being through faith in Jesus Christ; becoming new creatures in Christ Jesus, inheriting His divine nature through the sanctification of His Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Therefore, those who are in Christ Jesus have their identity sealed by His blood, and have the promise of eternal life with the family of God.  (Ephesians 1: 13-14)

My Prayer: Lord, Thank You for calling me into the family of God. Through faith my identity is no longer of the flesh, but in the Spirit of your Son.

About Doula Faith

I am first and foremost a child of God, "born again" into the Kingdom of God through faith in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has called me to be an "Encourager" of faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. I have learned through some painful trials of His unconditional love. The apple of my eye, is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Living Word.
