Context; Matthew 7: 7-11
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
In prayer the Lord tells us to be persistent and earnest in our requests, petitioning what we sincerely desire with thanksgiving and expectancy. We can ask with confidence when we are assured we are asking according to His will. While continuing in prayer, we seek an answer and then continue to pray as we search and wait for an open door.
There are examples throughout scripture that encourage believers to ask the Father what is desired, knowing He is a good Father and only will give us what is good. But the issue in the matter is how bad we want it and is our motivation and request according to His will. These stipulations are imperative to receiving whatever we ask for in prayer. He also tells us to be persistent, and to keep on praying without ceasing. That is, to not give up asking and seeking unless He reveals to us our request does not align with His will.
This was illustrated to me when I asked the Father to give me the wisdom needed to fix my great granddaughters keyboard. She could only hear the sound with the headphones plugged in, but there was no external sound. It was important to have this fixed because she was taking piano lessons. I so much wanted to find a solution to this problem. After asking, I sought a solution by going online. I explored YouTube videos and applied the fixes, but still no sound. I continued to pray for a solution and so it occurred to me to contact the company who sold this particular keyboard. To my surprise, I discovered they offered technical support. When I engaged in an online chat, the technical assistant gave me the same fixes I had previously applied. Then suddenly, the technical assistant, named “Matthew” asked about the date of purchase. I was honest and said the keyboard was a gift and I did not have the receipt, except to say the gift was given in December 2021. He said it was out of warranty but that he was extending a courtesy, and a special exception in my case and would replace it at no charge. He later emailed me the instructions for the shipping, and a prepaid shipping label. I was so astonished I started praising the Lord!
The Lord indeed gave me this gift and answered my prayer, I asked, sought and knocked on the door the Lord graciously opened for me and received much more than I could have imagined through prayer.
Lord, your Word is Truth, Your Promises are there, and you are faithful to do exactly what you promise when we are faithful to ask, seek and knock persistently through prayer.
