“His Abide”

Context: Matthew 26
Focus: Matthew 26:17
“On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you?” Matthew 26:17
The disciples asked Jesus on the first day of the celebration of Unleavened Bread where He wanted them to prepare the Passover meal.
The Festivals of Unleavened Bread and the Passover during the time of Jesus had and has great significance as to what was, is, and will be, taking place. Jesus was being prepared to be the Passover Lamb of God who was also the Unleavened Bread completely consumed, whereby none of His flesh remained. CR- John 19: 31-38
During the time when God led the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery, He told them how to prepare to leave. They made bread without yeast because they were to leave in haste. And they were to take a lamb into their home, slay it, eat it, and place its blood on the doorposts of their home. When the Angel of death, moved over Egypt killing all their first born, the blood of the lamb protected the Israelites. The entire body of the lamb roasted was completely consumed, “None of it was to remain”.
Deuteronomy 16:3, Exodus 12:13, Exodus 12: 1-51
Jesus spoke of His body being the bread coming down from heaven and His body and blood given as God’s sacrifice. His statement was so radical many disciples left Him. At this time He then turned to His twelve disciples and asked, if they too wanted to leave, which Peter responded:
“Lord, Where will we go? You have the words of eternal life.” John 6:68
“Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” John 6:53
At this last Passover Meal before His death, Jesus told His disciples again, His body was the bread, and the cup was His blood shed for them. He told All of them to eat of it.
When we partake of the Word of God, the bread, the meat, the milk, we can not choose which part we will reject and which part we accept. We must all partake of it, for it nourishes, corrects and guides us into eternal life. By feeding on the living Word of God we become “One” in mind and spirit.
CR- Matthew 4:4, 1 Peter 2: 1-3, John 6:55, Ephesians 4: 15-16
God gave us “HIS ALL” in Jesus Christ, and held nothing back. As believers we must accept “All” of His Word, and offer up our life, not part of it, but, “ALL of IT”.
Does He deserve less? CR – Romans 12: 1-2
My Response: Lord, remind us of how you gave your Son as the Living Word, nourishing and cleansing all who partake of His Sacrifice. Let us become one and receive all of Him so we can grow in unity in “One” Accord. Thank You for Your Word, Your Word is Truth.
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
1 John 2:27
