“His Abide”
summary, reflection, prayer
Context: Matthew 24
Focus: Matthew 24: 45-51
“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?” vs. 45
Servant: doulos – 1401 : believers who willingly live under Christ’s authority as His devoted followers.
A faithful servant is one who is responsible over what the Master gives the servant to do: to feed His household and to treat them right. If the servant is found faithful when He returns, the Lord will put Him in charge of what He owns, but if he is found doing evil things He will be punished and assigned a place with the hypocrites where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Sometimes what appears to be good is not good. Only the Lord knows the heart and whether or not the person is acting from a sincere heart or pretending to be what he/she is not: hypocrisy
When the Lord returns He will separate what is true from what is false. The one who has truly been born again and has a relationship with the Lord will be found faithful at a time unexpected. The servant of God (Bride) has the Holy Spirit preparing him/her for the Groom. Those in Christ are sanctified and serve Him from a pure heart. Their deeds are not for show or to display false righteousness. They will be doing what the Lord has called them to do no matter how long or what. The fruit of their labor and character will magnify the Lord’s, for they have a servant’s heart.
Lord, you make us ready by the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. We are sanctified by Him and desire to serve you and honor you with our life. Keep us in your Word, Lord, so we will not be ashamed at your coming, but be found doing your perfect will.
