Without Blemish

Without Blemish

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,  and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” NIV
Ephesians 5: 25-27

His Light Exposes Sin

But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” NIV John 3:21

Today, as I looked down from our bed, I noticed with the window opened, the light was shining through, exposing every particle of dust and hair. Disgusting, I thought to myself. Then I remembered the Word about how the light exposes sin. No wonder our Lord said, those who don’t want to see their sins, avoid the light. I get it, I really do, and this experiential circumstance made its application alarming, but true.

Recently, as I draw closer to my Lord in mediation of His Word and in prayer, patterns of wrong actions and words invade my mind. And the memories of habitual patterns that have caused me to draw away from doing God’s will are exposed, and I see myself naked without anything covering my works.

I could see myself hiding behind hypocrisy, and fear, manipulating circumstances with half – truths. And I was appalled, for what brought all this to light was God’s Word for God’s Word is Truth.  The catalyst of this recognition was my sincere desire to see His fruit, but I could not see any as late, and it concerned me as I became more passionate in knowing His ways. And so it was, the Lord with His illumination and merciful light, allowed me to see what I could not see until I drew closer to His light.

“Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
John 13: 6-10

One morning as I rose from my bed, I heard in my spiritual ear, “I am removing everything not of me.” Things I could not see. Thus started the purging and scourging of my soul, to the point that I could not lift my weary head. But with each confession came a cleansing peace, and I knew the Lord was removing all residue from the present and the past. For from the time I believed I was completely cleansed, but the daily walk in the flesh, accumulated some dust, only His watchful eye could see and only His blood remove. Hebrews 12:5-6

                                                         Complete in Him
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

Now, I see and hear my Savior more clearly and His commandments of love.  For He is faithful even when I am not faithful to sanctify me in His Truth. And when He has completed the work He began in me,  He will present me to the Father, as His radiant bride. For He continues to wash me with the water of His Word and cleanse me by His shed blood, all white, radiant and ready to reign at His Side.
