Who Do You Say I Am

When Mary seized the opportunity to be with Jesus, she simply knew she needed to be with Him to know Him. We can get so wrapped up in doing we forget about “being” which is why we are powerless in our witness and our service. But as Jesus so emphatically stated, “
“Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42

How is it we can think it is possible to serve the Master without knowing Who He really is?

“But Lord, didn’t we perform many miracles in your name, and Jesus will say, Depart from me, doers of iniquity, I never knew you! “Matthew 7:22-23

Could it be unless we enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we only know of Him but we do not know Him as He truly is. And if we only know of Him we are just using His name. Many have profited from His name and proclaimed the gospel for gain.

Mary took the Time to sit at His feet, listening to every Word and as a result was changed. Such is with each encounter with the Living Word, we cannot remain the same and play the same games.

Peter was a fisherman, an expert in the fishing trade, but none of His expertise was what Jesus needed to turn the world upset down. When He called Peter, He illustrated how only one thing was needed. And so it was, when Peter went out at the most unopportune time; letting down  his net, in obedience to His Word, he brought up such an abundance, his net was bursting at the seams.

“As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.” Mark 1:16-18

Peter left all he knew and all which kept him secure in this world and followed Jesus.

Saul who later became  Apostle Paul let go of His prestigious scholarly position, to serve Christ by enlightening an ignorant despised people with the Word of Truth.

“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'” Acts 13:47

So it is when we can let go of all we think we should be and Trust in Who Christ is, we too will let down our nets and follow. For the Lord has come to give us life and to its fullest. Therefore, let’s empty our nets of doubts, fear and apprehension and be all He has created us to be in Him by spending our time with the Master.  John 10:10
