With Cords of Love

“I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. To them I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them.” Hosea 11:4

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12

Some women experience separation and detachment anxiety in a medically managed or controlled birth which translates to the emotions of guilt, inadequacy and depression. These emotions may be the same as a mother who is separated from her sick or premature infant. A medically managed or controlled birth may take away the maternal empowerment necessary to equip the woman in the maternal role. For nine months, she’s been bonded to her unborn child through the umbilical cord (three cords in one) and suddenly her nurturing ability is replaced by medical interventions. The abrupt disruption and disappointment may shape her maternal frame of mind.  She may see herself more as a spectator in the process, robbed of the joy and fulfillment that comes from her labor of love. However, if she is encouraged to take control, healed and restored through Christ’s love, she will  manage the nurturing process and her maternal instincts will soar.  Isaiah 40:30-31

“A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.”
John 16:21

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” Isaiah 49:15

About Doula Faith

I am first and foremost a child of God, "born again" into the Kingdom of God through faith in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has called me to be an "Encourager" of faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. I have learned through some painful trials of His unconditional love. The apple of my eye, is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Living Word.
