The Transparency of Transformation
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Romans 12:2
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment” 1 Peter 2:2
God has provided His children . It is the very food that grows us into His likeness. Those who know the Lord are satisfied with none other than His Word. The more they partake of God’s Word, the hungrier they become for more of Him. Jesus spoke of being the manna from heaven and the bread of life and living water. He taught, if we ate of this bread and drank of this drink we would be eternally, spiritually satisfied (John 6:54). And it is true. The more we read God’s Word and digest it into our life, the more the Word becomes part of us. There is a saying, “You become what you eat”. And that is so true to those who have accepted through faith God’s salvation in Christ Jesus. As soon as a person comes of faith in Christ Jesus, that person is hungry for God. That is why He sent the Truth in the flesh to reveal to the world His Divine Nature and invites all that are willing, to partake.
If you have ever witnessed the transformation of a Monarch Butterfly you’re aware that the only food this creature craves are the leaves of the Milkweed plant. As a caterpillar, this creature constantly devours the plant, until one day, it is compelled to give up its flesh. The milkweed plant has become so much a part of the creature that it no longer can contain it. So the creature goes into labor in the struggle to abandon its outward nature. During this miraculous event, you can actually witness the struggle, as the caterpillar strains to remove his outer being. When at last, the head is surrendered, there appears a majestic sight. Suspended by a tiny thread is a beautiful object called a chrysalis, sealed and adorned with golden beads. It’s not yet apparent what it shall be and after only a few seconds, the chrysalis settles down and becomes perfectly calm and still (Psalm 46:10). There it hangs dormant and entombed. As the chrysalis ages, it becomes transparent, revealing an all – together different creature. The chrysalis completely thins and a winged creature emerges. This new creature finds a location to try out its wings and with each motion develops the courage to take flight (Isaiah 40:31). With the transformation complete, the Monarch begins this new life with purpose, spreading God’s precious seed along the way. DF
