“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the New is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
So, what does it mean to become a new creature in Christ Jesus? And how is this possible?
When Nicodemus inquired how it was possible to become born again, Jesus illustrated the wind. Just like you don’t know where the wind comes from nor where it is going, neither can you determine any action on your part to bring this about. One day you are who you are, and the next you know you’ve changed. Like a newborn baby who opens his eyes for the first time, you see things from a new perspective and will never be the same. The world no longer fits you and you no longer fit in the world. Like the parable of new wineskins, the old cannot contain the new. It’s as though you’re swaddled in God’s security blanket, and you know who you belong to. All your senses suddenly become sharp, and you discern what is false and true. Like the butterfly who suddenly grows wings, you know you are free. And you know you are loved unconditionally. And in God’s Kingdom, things work out differently. Your mind is on Christ Jesus, and it is Him now, you most want to please.
So, it’s out with the old and in with the new. You now have Christ’s perspective and following Jesus is what you desire and are predestined to do.
