Acacia Tree
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29
When it comes to God’s Word there are surface revelations, and some buried deep. But through the Holy Spirit’s interpretation, guidance, and scriptural excavations, we can uncover some awesome treasures; further evidence of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
(Jeremiah 29:13)
Recently, I’ve been watching, archeological discoveries in Israel on YouTube. Structures still standing give optical evidence of this Holy land, while ongoing excavations reveal deeper truths.
I do not think it was by chance, Jesus taught many times from the Temple’s treasury. For every Word He spoke was wisdom’s gem revealing Who He Is.
(John 8:19-20, John 14:6)
The Word promises if we earnestly seek God we will find Him, and He will open the door to greater revelation of Himself. Discovering divine connections between Old and New Covenants and Testaments is like finding a pearl, a gem of great price. So imagine my amazement at the construction of the Ark of the Covenant, witnessing an unveiling, and connection to the Cross. (Deuteronomy 29:29, Exodus 25: 10-22))
Ark of the Covenant
The Ark of the Covenant was constructed with wood and overlaid with gold. I knew the wood spoke of Christ’s humanity and the gold of His divinity, but I was compelled to dig a little deeper to see the Hebrew translations for the Ark’s wood – Shittim.

Thorns on Acacia Tree

Jesus Christ’s Crown of Thorns
The Ark’s wood – “Shittim” originates from the Acacia tree which in Hebrew– along with other Hebrew transliterations means – pierce, scourge, stretched out, and sticks of wood.
Note: The long stretched-out branches of the Acacia tree are uniquely covered with long piercing thorns which I believe depict Christ’s suffering on the cross.
Once a year, the High Priest made atonement for all God’s people by sprinkling the sacrificial blood on the Ark of the Covenant’s Mercy Seat. The Mercy Seat was made of pure gold and covered by Cherubim’s outstretched wings. Whenever the Israelites moved the Tabernacle, the Ark was lifted up with two poles at four corners by four priests.

Jesus said, “And I if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”
John 12:32
(my emphasis)
Jesus was lifted up upon two pieces of wood. He was crowned with thorns, His body scourged and pierced. While pouring out His mercy and blood on the cross, He atoned for all mankind’s sins from all four corners of the earth.
( John 3:16, John 12:32, Isaiah 53:1-12)
Discover How the Cross of Jesus Christ is a Positive Sign
Maybe they will discover the Wood of Christ’s Cross was made from Shittim wood from the Acacia Tree. What do you think?
