Are We Plugged In?

Plugged In

John 15:5
Luke 24:29

As I approached my computer to write this blog, I noticed no power cord was attached; for I had forgotten to plug it in when I moved it from one part of the house to another. So I began to see another meaning of it all; although the computer was sitting there with all the capacity to do marvelous things, it was powerless to do so because it was not plugged into the power source to give it the energy it needed to do the work.
Similarly, as I watched my robotic vacuum move about the house, it also reminded me how without the electrical charge; it could go nowhere, and unless it returned to its power source it could not do another thing even though it was capable of doing so much to clean my house.

Both of these technological devices are programed and designed to do specific tasks. But unless they are charged with power, they are incapable of doing anything except maybe to be noticed, but that is all.

I remember in reading God’s Word, Jesus would give examples relative to the point He was making. They were always perfect, familiar illustrations to the people and culture of that day. To demonstrate God’s provision He pointed to the lilies of the field and the birds of the air. On another occasion He demonstrated how to give by holding up a coin, and the illustration of humbleness by embracing a child. So it is, the Holy Spirit continues to teach along with scripture what is relative to us today. (John 16:13,John 15:26, John 21:25)

Jesus illustrated to His disciples the analogy of a tree with many branches and how the branches were dependent on the sustenance of the Vine in order to bear fruit. So it is a beautiful illustration of how we are to abide in Him. Similarly, without the attachment, the baby within a womb can receive nothing, and will not grow. (John 15)

Where comes the power to do God’s Will? The power comes from His Holy Spirit dwelling within our being. Just as Jesus began the day in prayer, receiving guidance and power from the Father, we can go directly to the Father, the source of all power through prayer.
( Philippians 4: 4-6, Proverbs 3:5-6, Luke 5:16, John 5:19)

Only, in an analogical sense can the computer and the robotic vacuum be compared to how God has designed and purposed the work His children will do. It is not the Word of God, but perhaps, similar in the way Christ teaches. As a technological device is designed by its creator to perform a specific task, so is everyone who believes in Jesus Christ is predestined to do the Will of God.
(Ephesians 2:10)

Similarly, the Monarch butterfly demonstrates God’s preordained, planned purpose and design as it miraculously transforms from caterpillar to butterfly. It did not come about by the creatures own initiative, but rather through God’s design it is able to give up the flesh and develop the wings to take flight. (Isaiah 40: 30-31, Romans 1:20)

We as believers are capable of doing the work through Christ, but unless we are plugged into the Power of God’s Holy Spirit, we can do absolutely nothing. We are predestined to walk in the preordained works prepared by Him, but unless we receive the nourishment of His Word, we stagnate and accomplish nothing for the Kingdom of God.
(Zechariah 4:6, Luke 24:49)

But the secret is not to go out on our own initiative, but to wait until the power of the Holy Spirit guides and directs us in the Way. (John 5:19)

Let us together remain plugged into the Power of His love through meditating upon His Word and bringing everything to Him in prayer. Then we can demonstrate His love towards one another making known the power of His Grace.
(Ephesians 2: 8-9, John 13:34-35)
