The Parable of the Persistent Widow – Luke 18: 1-8
“And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you; he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (personal emphasis) Luke 18: 6-8
What I love about this parable is how God gives us Opportunity
To be serious and persistent in the things in which we ask.
It’s a promise of Him listening,
His answer within our grasp.
The only threats are what, others have to say,
Like Joe Biden claiming victory
Before the “end of day”.
It reminds me of Goliath’s boastings;
Threatening imminent defeat.
While David remained still and focused;
Positioned on his feet.
His aim was precisely determined
At the giant’s prideful head.
No weapon or shield did he carry,
God’s love, His Word, instead.
David had all God’s promises,
But He needed just one stone,
Proclaiming God’s, Faithfulness,
Knocking deception off its throne.
So never give up praying
When injustice rears its head
Wait for the Lord to deliver
False Conclusions, never dread.
The Lord is ever watchful
As petitions reach His throne
To see who’ll believe His promises
Having faith in Him, alone.
“See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame
and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;
no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.”
Isaiah 54: 16-17
My Prayer
Lord, you alone are our Salvation, and our Deliverer
Please shed your Light on this Election
Making everything Transparent
Revealing the Truth
So your Justice and your Will
Prevails.
In Jesus’ Name
Amen
