Giving Birth with the Help of the Lord

Pregnant woman

“Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.” Later, she gave birth to his brother Abel.” Genesis 4:1-2

God never abandons those who place their trust in Him. After Adam and Eve sinned, life was difficult, but God was still with them. When they trusted in themselves and listened to the voice of the enemy they doubted God. And so it was, misplacing their trust greatly increased their labor.
(Isaiah 64:4, Deuteronomy 31:6, Proverbs 3: 5-6).

Eve’s labor in birthing her firstborn was a new experience. But God was with her and did not abandon her. He guided her through the whole process. And later, she gave birth to her second child (Genesis 4: 1-2).

“With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.” Genesis 4:1

In my first childbirth experience, I was ignorant, afraid, trusting in a medically managed birth. The birth was painful and recovery was prolonged and difficult. I felt abandoned, helpless, and inadequate in the maternal role. There were physical, emotional and spiritual ramifications for both me and my baby.

During the pregnancy of my second child I was encouraged to have a Pregnant womanmaternally managed birth. I felt confident throughout the whole process. I was not afraid, neither was I ignorant of the reward in trusting God. And in the hour of my greatest challenge, and hardest labor, I received support and guidance from His Holy Spirit.

He was faithful to deliver and by co-laboring with Christ, I knew I could do anything, and I did with the help of the Lord.
( Proverbs 3: 5-6,Philippians 4: 5-7,13 Isaiah 40:30-31, Psalm 34:4, Genesis 4:1)
