Jesus is my Superhero

Jesus Super Hero

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10″

“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5: 7-8

Recently, while volunteering in my grandson’s classroom, the above graphic caught my attention. I thought about its implications and realized, that Jesus is indeed a Superhero, but in a way that doesn’t resemble the superheroes of our day. Just as in the movie, when Lois Lane fell hanging from a helicopter and Superman swooped down and caught her, rescuing her from certain death, Jesus did, does and will continue to save every one who calls on His Name from eternal death .
View Scene from the movie – Superman
(Psalm 20:7,Psalm 37:23-24, Romans 10:13, Acts 2:21)

The big red S  in the middle of His name is a reminder of how Christ’s mission was one thing; He left heaven and came to earth to be our S avior, rescuing each of us from the penalty of death, He went to the cross where He S hed His blood for the forgiveness of all our S ins.

“In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Hebrews 9:22

The thief on the cross recognized his Savior and Hero and repented:

“We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23: 41-43

Truly, the acts of Jesus Christ would categorize Him as a Supernatural man by our Superhero standards. He performed miraculous deeds by healing the sick, delivering people from demons, walking on water, calming the sea and feeding thousands with just a handful of food and raising people from the dead. But none of these supernatural acts compare with what took place that night in Gethsemane where He struggled against all the evil forces to do His Father’s will. There, alone in prayer, the agony was so intense, He sweated great drops of blood. He could have commanded legions of angels to come and rescue Him from the impending torment. Instead, He placed himself in the enemy’s hands, and became God’s sacrifice on our behalf. (Luke 22:44)
Jesus not only cleansed us with His own blood, reconciling us to His Father, a Holy God, but gave everyone the opportunity of “eternal life”. (John 3:16)

After He completed the atonement for the whole world’s sin, he was placed in a tomb, remaining there for three days. On the third day, He left the tomb to proclaim His victory over death. It was not just His victory, but He gave the victory to everyone who repents and exchanges their own life for His.
(John 2:19,Luke 18:31-33, Acts 1:3, Matthew 16:25-26)

He not only had the power and love to surmount every temptation and obstacle, but promised the same love and power to those who believe and follow Him.
( Luke 24:49 )

He promised never to leave or forsake all who lay down their will for His own. He promised never to leave the one who believes in Him, repenting, and forsaking this world for His Kingdom. His Kingdom is being built by each person who accepts His salvation, and His Kingdom will remain, while this world is passing away.
(Matthew 16:15-18 )

He promised the same power, love and guidance to those who no longer live for themselves but for His Kingdom and Glory.( Galatians 2:20 )

So it is, He has promised every believer they will do greater things because He sends them His Holy Spirit to overcome anyone and everything, bringing glory to God the Father and to the Son.  (John 14:12-16 )

He promises every believer a new birth by acknowledging their sin, and faith in Him.
(John 3:3,  Romans 10:9-10, John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 5:17 )

Therefore He gives everyone the opportunity to be a superhero for Christ, not by might, not by power, but through the indwelling person of His Holy Spirit. Through Christ Jesus, with the power, love, guidance of His Holy Spirit, we can do all things.
( Zechariah 4:6, Philippians 4:12-13 )

And with His Holy Spirit, those who trust in Christ Jesus, will mount up with wings like an eagle, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. ( Isaiah 40:30-31 )

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.” 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17

About Doula Faith

I am first and foremost a child of God, "born again" into the Kingdom of God through faith in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has called me to be an "Encourager" of faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. I have learned through some painful trials of His unconditional love. The apple of my eye, is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Living Word.

Hello. We live in the nice city Potsdam in Germany. In the week bevor eastern we make here a evangelisation outside. Our idea is to print balloons with the logo :Jesus is my superhero” for give away. Our question is, if we can use the logo or whom we can ask for it.
    Much greeting
    Johannes und Eva
