“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed–or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42

It has been my daily habit for some time to spend the early morning with my Lord. I go and make myself some coffee and then with cup in hand I reach for my devotional along with my Bible and journal, and while sitting quiet and uninterrupted, I drink in His awesome Word. Many times my coffee cup remains full for nothing satisfies like His Living Word.

The Lord always has something to share if I am listening.  When I do listen, He opens His Word to me, letting me know of His love and concerns.  I then begin to pray about what He has shared. .  I let Him know what is on my heart and He responds with an example in His Word that sheds light and clarity to my understanding. I find I can’t write it down fast enough, for His revelation is so precious to me, like pearls placed delicately and purposely around my heart.

I so long to serve Him, but there are areas in my personality that get in the way.  Recently the Lord has revealed the problem and I am experiencing release and freedom from emotional chains that kept me bound.

I think of how I’ve so often run to others, read many self-help books when the Wonderful Counselor has been dwelling within me all along. The one who knows me like no other has provided the best self-help book in the world – His Awesome Word.. His counsel is with me every moment through His Holy Spirit. All I have to do is ask, trust, and wait and his solution comes at just the right time and in His perfect way.

Why have I neglected His counsel for such a long time? Could it be that I wasn’t really listening?

Now that I am really listening, I hear His acceptance, and unconditional love setting me free to be me which has been His promise, all along.

Thank You, Jesus
